5 NETFLIX Movies To Watch If You Were Me

I've been so attached to my NETFLIX lately. It became my current addiction besides my Chic Lit Novels and of course, Bed. No. I guess Bed should be my all time addiction.

Since Avengers : Endgame is coming real soon, I am also busy with the Avengers marathon, especially to figure out the origination of all the Infinity Stones. I must say, I can't wait for the movie. At all. However, am not gonna watch it on the first day, because MBO's Premier Seat is only available at 5.30 pm. How am I supposed to catch that? Maybe, second or third day will be just fine as long as I avoid reading all the spoilers on the net.

But this post is not about Avengers. I have nothing to talk about it.

Today, I am gonna share about my favorite movies on NETFLIX. There are many, from all genres but am gonna start with only 5 of them. Disclaimer - my movie preference may be different from others (woman) because I don't do much of Romantic or Love Stories but more to History, Real-Events, Action, Horror, Fantasy (sometimes), Biography, and yeah, the Mind-Wrecking type (something like Split and Sherlock Holmes). I did less Drama but Will Smith's type of Drama is acceptable. Focus, Seven Pounds and Pursuit of Happiness are the example.

So, here are the list:

1- UNICORN STORE

Genre : Drama, Fantasy

Captain Marvel did a reunion with Nick Fury in this cute day-dream liked movie of a young woman who failed her dream job as a painter (artist) and received a surprise gift of her childhood dream from a mysterious Unicorn Store. IMDb rated it 5.3/10, a bit average but it's nothing wrong with the movie actually. It was all good and cute. Brie Larson was totally not the super-hero type here even though she was funny as ever.

I love magical movies especially during Christmas month. Hence, this one suits me well. Sometimes you need a very light and fun type of movie over the weekends while having a good breakfast. You need some laughs when there are already too much inside your brain. Just sit back and relax.

I put this first because it is the latest in NETFLIX. Now let see what's the next choice?

2) THE PRIZE WINNER OF DEFIANCE, OHIO

Genre : Memoir, Real-Event, Biography

This movie is based on a memoir book by Terry Ryan, the daughter of Evelyn Ryan who is the main character of this super woman who is very talented but married to a loser jerk man raising their 10 children. I don't like the husband at all. In order to support the big family, Evelyn participated in every contest and winning almost all of 'em. Once, she received a grand prize of few thousand dollar and she used that to purchase a house. The story goes with more winning, children growing up and one day Dortha Schafer, a housewife who had similar interest, talent and luck mailed her a letter. Since that, they became good friends who shared stories and such. The heart-broken part was when her husband Kelly, who was also an alcoholic - defaulted the mortgage payment. They had to leave the house and be separated from each other unless she win something big to save the family.

This is a real story. Some people are lucky and talented. I love contests too, since I was a kid. I participated in a lot of them. Small one, for sure but I did not win much. Hahaha. I enjoyed doing it. Luck is another part, okay. This piece motivated me to do what you love and best, turn it into a goal or income or anything you can see. The movie is very good for mothers because you know, mother... you are always the best.

It's rated 7.3 by IMDb and it's worth it.

3 - MIRAGE

Genre : Action

This is a Spain movie called Durante La Tormenta. It is an action movie about time travelling. Vera traveled in time when she saw a boy, Nico through an old television ; happened to be from the year 1989. She was told that Nico died of an accident when he saw a murder from a house in their neighborhood. So, Vera saved the boy's life by warning him about the said event. That night, with a strike of a lightning, things changed. Vera woke up as a different person. She lost her husband and daughter. So she started to see Inspector Leyra who eventually discovered a murder case with Vera's help. Once the case is solved, Vera found out that she had a relationship with Inspector Leyra and more secret revealed.

I don't wanna spoil this with the ending part but I know time-travelling is an adventure movie to watch especially when you like to guess the ending or if you are a fan of an unexpected plot twist. I enjoyed French and Spain movies much through Netflix because their action and thriller genres are satisfying. You would wanna stick to your seat and dumped your weekends house chores for those.

This movie was produced in 2018 and IMDb rated it 7.5/10 while Rotten Tomatoes give it a score of 67%. Told ya it's not bad at all. After all, Inspector Leyra is a quite good-looking type to watch for.

4 - 22 JULY

Genre : Real-Event, Crime, History

This is REAL. The tragic event of the New Zealand Mosque's gun shot relateas much to this movie. I mean, this is about a planned terrorist attack with a mission and manifesto. It happened in Norway on 22 July 2011, somewhere in an island in Oslo where children and teenagers are most of the victim. They were attending a youth camp when the right-wing terrorist, Andes Behring Breivik shot them down left only few survivors who managed to escape before the police arrived. He was then arrested and charged.

Watch it to believe it. I watched this movie before the real heartbreaking events of New Zealand's Muslim massacre took place. I can't believe what I watched through the Facebook video streaming. Who on earth would do that..? But then I remembered this movie I watched in 2018...and yes, insane people are real.

5 - THE HIGHWAYMEN

Genre : Action, Crime, True Story

Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson team-up in a hunt of a well-known pair of criminals namely Bonnie & Clyde. It is quite violence so kids may not be allowed to watch. The couple are very mean. They murder cops and some civilians in most of their mission. However they are very famous and had their own followers. This movie is basically about the two detectives spent time on the roads and highways in order to capture Bonnie and Clyde.

I did few googling about the stories of Bonnie and Clyde before and after watching this movie. They said, the couple are doing the Robbin Hood-like-work where they robbed and murdered people to give the money back to the poor. Well, personally I think they had a mental health issue that's why they were having fun doing it. They even become the fashion trendsetter. Media loved them. 

The story line is a bit slow. and lengthy. Not much of an action but few violence murder scene. Overall, it is a good movie to watch especially when it's newly released. Scored a 7.0/10 from IMDb and only 54% from rottentomatoes.com.

So, those are the first 5 movies. I'll do more in my next post, just in case you are having plenty of time at home and wondering what's the latest to watch. Those with ASTRO, maybe you guys can find the latest movies through Afdah.to coz that's where I streamed some movies without having to watch it repetitively with a long advertisement and expensive bills. If you know what I mean.

This is supposed to be a short and simple post but I know I can't satisfy my eyes and brain that much if it is too short. So let me end it here and now.
